Blend - Grenache, Mataro & Shiraz
Barossa Valley, SA

Moppa Springs, Ebenezer and Kalimna are some of the driest areas in the Barossa, where green vines grow on one side of the fence and ripened wheat on the other. This hard country is cold, wet and frosty during pruning - then hot, dry and dusty during harvest: the kind of tough conditions that ensure Grenache, Mataro and Shiraz give their best. These varieties and the families who grow them earned the right to represent the Barossa in this traditional blend by surviving for more than 150 years when others could not

Colour: Beautiful dark red, almost black colour in the glass
Aroma: Black Fruit nose with a hint of plum
Palate: Black Fruit, dark cherry and leather palate. Soft, smooth tannins

CRU's Charcuterie Board

A no-brainier for me! This is my go to wine for before dinner, with food, or after a meal. Perfect on its own or paired with food. It's a great value for the quality of the wine. I've stocked up on a few vintages for my home cellar!

90% Cabernet Sauvignon + 10% Syrah
Mapio, Chile

Our History In 1984 Bruno Prats and Paul Pontallier well known Agronomists and winemakers in the region of Bordeaux, France, start looking in Chile for a high quality terroir to create an original and unique vineyard.

They partnered with a mutual friend, Felipe de Solminihac, Agronomist and Chilean Winemaker of French origin.

In 1990 they purchased 18 hectares in the city of Santiago.  Located at the foot of the Andes, the “Quebrada de Macul”, it is in the historic heart of the Maipo Valley.

Colour: Ruby Red

Aroma: Elegant on the nose, combining fresh red fruit, cassis and spices.

Palate: Nice structure & smooth

CRU's Lamb Roast for Two(Or any pasta or risotto that uses lamb!)

I like the bit of spice I get when drinking this wine. It's fun to try wines from all over the world, and Chile is a win for me in winter. Goes perfectly with lamb dishes or smokey meats.

THE WINE: 100% Merlot
Bendigo, Victoria

100% Merlot, Bendigo, Victoria

A juicy and elegant wine with a plush and velvety mouth-feel and silky tannin. The Bendigo Wine Estate vineyard is located in Axedale, a sub-region within Bendigo, one of Australia’s oldest wine regions. The 20 year old vineyard sits on rich loamy soil, is nestled on the banks of the Campaspe River and experiences long days of sunshine enabling the production of rich and ripe red wines.

Colour: Deep Red, with hues of Purple

Aroma: An array of red and blue fruits, plums and kirsch liqueur
Palate: Cherries, red and blue plums, blueberries and exotic fruits

CRU's Gorgonzola Blue Cheese

I love red wine, but I like smooth silky tannins. This is the wine that does that! Soft and velvety, dark fruits. I love to support local Victorian wines, and as an added bonus, it's vegan & kosher!

THE WINE: 100% Pinot Noir
Mornington Peninsula, Victoria

Hurley Vineyard wraps north to east around the crest of a little volcanic hill in three climates, including Lodestone. Lodestone is the north-facing vineyard of 3.5 acres. It puts its whole face to the warmest sun. It contains the Burgundian clones 114, 115 and 777, as well as MV6. Lodestone is magnetite, an iron mineral abundant in our vineyards, and also “a thing that is a focus of attention or attraction” (OED). This name keeps us focused on the soil.

Colour: Semi translucent bright dark red colour with a dark crimson hue.

Aroma: Ripe cherries, flowers, sage and wet clay
Palate: Succulent red fruits and dried mushrooms that is driven by the racy acidity and coated

with the ultra-fine tannins of the vintage

CRU's Whole Spatchcock, marinated in 5 Spice with Confit Cherry Tomatoes

My go to red at CRU! To me Winter Reds don't have to be big, bold, heavy wines. I like this wine because it's complex, and the soil tells a story. Even though it's a Pinot, I still recommend to decant it and let it bloom. We got to meet Tricia, the Winemaker's (Kevin) Wife, at a wine dinner a few years ago, and she was lovely.

THE WINE: 100% Shiraz,

Barossa Valley

Amon-Ra Shiraz is an iconic wine that epitomises Ben Glaetzer’s passion to create wines that are full flavoured, multi layered and intense but still elegant, stylish and finely balanced.

In Egyptian mythology, Amon-Ra is considered to be the king of all gods. The eye on front of the label is the all-seeing eye of Horus or wedjat ("whole one") - a powerful Egyptian symbol of protection. It is represented as a figure with six parts, corresponding to what Egyptians regarded as the six senses; touch, taste, hearing, sight, smell and thought.Ben created Amon-Ra Shiraz to appeal to all these six senses.

Colour: Deep purple, almost black.
Aroma: Highly perfumed with dried spice, espresso, plum and blackberry on the
Palate: Awesome balance with tremendous depth on the palate.

CRU's Scotch Fillet Steak, 250gm

Ben has been one of my favourite wine maker for years, and his wines never disappoint. A great guy, who makes outstanding wine! Best enjoyed with a heavy winter meal, or curled up in front of the fire place. I don't think I've ever gone wrong recommending one his wines to friends.
